Hi I’m Donna Every. I started my career as an auditor and then as a consultant in the Corporate Finance & Entrepreneurial Services department of one of the Big Six Accounting firms of the 1990s. After about ten years I knew that I wanted to be my own boss so I left and started my personal development training and consulting firm, Arise Consulting Inc.I discovered a love for writing and started as far back as 1997, but I published my first book in 2009. I have since written eight other books, both fiction and non-fiction which have been every well received locally and on Amzon.com. One of my latest books “The ABC’s of Entrepreneurship” is being made into a video series which will be available to Caribbean students of business and entrepreneurship as well as entrepreneurs later this year.
In 2011, I joined the Barbados Entrepreneurship Foundation and was one of the founding members of the Education &Talent Development Pillar. Our pillar introduced the $20 Challenge competition in secondary schools to introduce students to entrepreneurship. The competition has grown tremendously over the years and as a judge this year, I was pleased to see an increasing number of participants planning to continue their businesses after the competition ended.
I have been the Barbados Ambassador for Women’s Entrepreneurship Day since 2014 and I am currently the Barbados Facilitator for the InfoDev WINC Acceleration Program for growth oriented women entrepreneurs. Many of the participants of the program, and other women entrepreneurs, need funding to expand their businesses so I am very glad that Cecile Watson and Valrie Grant started the FundRiseHer initiative.
Being a WED Ambassador and a WINC Facilitator has connected me with some great women across the Region who are just as passionate about helping women entrepreneurs as I am and who are committed to working together to make the Caribbean a better place. Come and join us.
